ALL the work Sail for Charity undertakes for its selected charities relies on contributions, either financial or ‘in kind’. If you would like to donate ‘in kind’ e.g. boat charter, equipment, clothing for the race etc., please use the Contact page.
All financial donations / sponsorship are gratefully received at Sail For Charity and will be put fully towards the chosen worthy cause as published on this web site. ANY contributions, no matter how small are welcomed. To donate please choose one of the options below and follow the instructions.
Sail for Charity, in conjunction with this year's nominated charity The Ellen MacArthur Trust has considered a number of different payment options.
Possibly the simplest option is via Sail for Charity's pages on the Just Giving website. Although Just Giving charge a small administration fee, this is still the Charity's preferred method for receiving donations for this event. We asked Frank Fletcher of the Ellen MacArthur Trust and he told us: "although they charge a fee ... they are very efficient at ensuring we receive the gift aid - you only need to miss gift aid on one donation of say £100, and any saving you have made on Credit card or Admin charges that year is wiped out. They also pay the money into our account almost straight away, some of the non profit charity donation sites can take up to three months to pay the money to the charity. The other advantage of Justgiving is that it is secure and [the charity] have no liability if any credit card fraud takes place."
Alternatively, the PayPal option is totally secure and all donations will be credited direct to Sail for Charity's high interest account, where the money will earn interest until a cheque is sent to the Charity. You will be issued with an electronic receipt once the transaction has taken place. Unfortunately, there is also a transaction charge for PayPal payments via credit or debit cards of 3.4% plus 20p.
