Sail for Charity

Cowes, IOW

Race Starts are an exciting time The main challenge for the Sail For Charity team will once again be to compete in Skandia Cowes Week 2008. A seemingly unassuming location, on a non-race day, on the northern coast of the Isle of Wight, Cowes transforms into a vibrant and bustling venue for the UK’s largest sailing regatta. Each August, many thousands of visitors descend onto this tiny island for just over a week of the intense atmosphere and sheer thrill and exhilaration, which is Cowes Week.

It is here that thousands of boats, of all shapes and sizes, will race against the best of the best for the ultimate trophies, over a gruelling 8 days of racing – early mornings, hard practice (even in the depths of winter!), come rain or shine. The team will aim to make their mark on the event – to take Cowes Week by storm - whilst at the same time hoping to raise thousands for their nominated charity.

More information on the event and results/photographs from previous years can be found at http://www.skandiacowesweek.co.uk/.
