A boat in the sun What’s it all about?

Sail For Charity is a not for profit organisation set up to benefit the needs of an annually nominated charity through a passion for sailing.

Whether on water or on dry land, the aim is simple … to raise as much money as possible to help the selected charity meet the needs and goals of their beneficiaries.

If you would like to help us in any way, or indeed if you would like to make a donation, then please visit the Contact page.

The Ellen Macarthur Trust In the past we have raised funds for The Ellen MacArthur Trust - a charity which sets out to help children who have been affected by serious illnesses. As parents ourselves, this seems an obvious choice.

The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness. Sailing is perfect for these children; it gives them a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Simply the experience of going out on the water for the first time is an adventure. Children come from all over the UK, and each child has the challenge of helping sail the yachts throughout the voyage and takes part in all aspects of the trip from sailing the yacht to the washing up!

Over the last few years the Sail for Charity team have raised thousands of pounds of sponsorship for our chosen charities Sail4Cancer and Ellen Macarthur Trust. This year we've raised the bar even higher for ourselves, and hope that through hard work by the crew earning generous sponsorship from their supporters, we can raise even more money for EMT.

Cowes Week 2011
Our main event in 2011 is to compete in Cowes Week, which some say is to yacht racing what Wimbledon is to tennis! In previous years we have been second in our class, this year we are aiming for that top slot!

Under our skipper Greg Conary, on his Beneteau "Eclipse", and with a lot of hard work and dedication from the crew, Team Sail for Charity has certainly stepped up to the mark to compete previous Cowes Weeks, and we hope that 2011 will be no different. We couldn't be more pleased with the racing results! Some of our crew have been with us for a few years, and we are pleased to have welcomed some new crew members; all like-minded individuals who are prepared to go all out to raise funds for our charity, as well as bringing key skills to the team.

In total we raised over £10,000 for charity in recent years and this year we hope we can do our new charity proud

Future Events
Future events are already in the early stages of planning, and we are pleased to be planning our return to Cowes Week for 2011. We're hoping that the majority of the team will return for Cowes '11, but there may be some spaces.

If you're interested in joing the team, or would like to be kept informed, please Contact Us, including "Crew Places", or "Future Events" within the Subject of your message.
